about

One day, Larry, who is a lonely oatcake, was thinking: "I would like to pay tribute to all of the flora and the fauna. Including all of them will likely be rather time-consuming so I will be content with a subset. I will aim to produce this artifact before all of the floras are cleared to make way for Profitable Enterprise and before an abundance of nuclear waste irreversibly alters all of the faunas. Some time in the future, when the earth is uninhabitable by anything other than dust, I want my tribute to persist as a memento."

There was a pause, then Larry thought some more: "In fact, it seems more poetic and fitting if my tribute turns to ashes with everything else. I should let the dust forget, and not indulge them in pining for a past that they cannot recover."

Larry could not create a tribute because Larry is an oatcake. It is doubtful that Larry had these thoughts either, or indeed any thoughts, because Larry is an oatcake. Thoughts. Words. Reality. It's all quite confusing.

Parental guidance: contains goose-induced fear, existential angst, and scientific inexactitude. May contain traces of irreverence. There are additional content warnings on some of the individual tracks.

Listening to The Oatcake Guide to Natural History is not a recommended substitute for reading actual books.

For more useful information on these and other topics, turn off your smart phone and be attentive to your surroundings.

The Lonely Oatcake Glasgow, UK

Ever since I was a boy, I have always found oatcakes a pleasure. When I met Larry, he seemed like an amiable chap so I struck up a conversation.

“Hello Larry.”

“How did you know my name was Larry?”

From there our association blossomed. One day I realised that I didn’t like Larry. Now he is a lonely oatcake.
